GTZ Module on "The CDM in the Transport Sector"

The Kyoto Protocol entered into force on February 16th 2005. The Protocol has as target to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and includes binding emission reduction com- mitments for Annex I countries (industrialized economies). The Protocol establishes three innovative "mechanisms" known as Joint Implemen- tation, the Clean Development Mechanism and Emissions Trading.

Transport suggestions to COP15 Non-Papers

To ensure that the Agreement in Copenhagen fully enables mitigation and adaptation actions in transport, we have developed a set of concrete text suggestions to the most recent non-papers, which will form the basis for the negotiations at the COP15.

Mitigation

Greenhouse gas reduction strategies in the transport sector

OECD and the International Transport Forum Working Group has released a report that includes the preliminary findings of a work group exploring transport greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction strategies. The final report will be released in 2010.

Non-paper text suggestions

To ensure that the Agreement in Copenhagen fully enables mitigation and adaptation actions in transport, we have developed a set of concrete text suggestions to the non-papers (and their respective Contact Groups), which will form the basis for further negotiations in Barcelona.
